At the start of second grade we begin to learn about common ways to call notes and rhythm by using solfege and rhythm syllables. We review our tempo and dynamic words learned last year and keep working on steady beat and matching pitch. Here are the activities we are working on currently, please ask your child to share them with you!
"Robot Came to Tea"
What would you do if a robot came to tea?
Just look at me and a robot you will see
Spoken:Robots at attention! Robots let's begin...
Move one arm...
(Repeat from beginning and then add other arm, one leg, other leg, head, turn around, and last sit down)
"Miss White" (Rhyme)
Miss White had a fright
In the middle of the night
Saw a ghost, eating toast
Halfway up the lamppost.
"Closet Key"
I have lost my closet key in my lady's garden
I have lost my closet key in my lady's garden
--A game with a simple song for decoding later and to help learn dynamics!
